Construction of the Mise-en-scene in the Music Video

The Mise-En-Scene within our video was carefully constructed to help make the filming process of the video run smoothly and efficiently. We took care of the lighting, props, costumes and setting to make the video look as good as possible.

Lighting

Filming at night is a frustrating thing when there isn't much light to see what you are recording. As we have filmed at night, we took into account the lighting which could have been a disaster to the video. The way we over came this was by using a powerful torch to brighten up the actor's faces, while using a couple of floodlights to light up the setting so the viewers will be able to see clearly.

Props

The props we used were input into the video to make it look more modern and realistic, and/or because it's relevant. The props we used were an iPod, fake drug bag and headphones. The iPod was shown at the start to symbolise the actor turning her iPod on to play the song the music video is based on. The headphones were relevant to this as it shows she's listening to the iPod, and the fake drug bag is to symbolise a drug deal is taking place.

Costumes

The costumes that our actors dressed up in related to the rock genre very well. This included baggy/skinny jeans, black t-shirt, converse/vans/boots, sweatbands, the basic rock-based, dark clothing. Our main character wore very dark clothing with dark, black make-up to show she is depressed/saddened. The band wore stereotypical rock clothes such as the ones listed above.

Setting

The setting we chose were dark streets and main roads at night. This was to emphasise a disturbing and depressive mood to the video. the main actor walks around the streets at night to keep this mood strong. We also chose to have the band performance at the top of a car park roof to show give the audience the idea that the band is superior.
